A Heads-Up for Our U.S. Shoppers: Understanding Tariffs

At Dopamine Hits, we believe in shopping with your eyes wide open—and that includes knowing exactly what kind of extra charges might come your way.

Some of our items are made in Canada, China, or other international locations. Because of recent U.S. trade policy changes, your country may charge you extra fees (called tariffs) at the border—even when you shop online.

Here’s what we’ve found after hours of trying to get clear answers from official U.S. government sources:

What You Should Know:

  • The U.S. has a de minimis limit of $800 USD. That means if your total order is under $800 and not on a special tariff list, you might avoid extra charges.

  • If your item is over $800, or flagged by U.S. Customs, it may be hit with a 25% tariff (or more)even if we offer free shipping.

  • The U.S. government decides these charges, and they are paid directly by you to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) if your parcel is flagged.

Due to current U.S. tariff rules, your order may be subject to additional charges. These are determined by U.S. Customs and are completely out of our control.

In general, it's your responsibility to know the rules and regulations of your country before you purchase online.  This page has information for you about bringing packages into your country (Importing).

We wanted to link directly to an official U.S. government page explaining this in plain English for our online shoppers... but nothing exists. The information is either buried, blocked, or missing entirely—even ChatGPT and Google search results are restricted or looping us in circles.

Where we searched:

  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
  • Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR)
  • Congressional Reports and Trade Bulletins
  • Consumer import FAQs

Still nothing simple. And that, friends, is the point.

We're Not Hiding It—They Are; they don't want you to know the cost!

We want you to have the full picture, even when the system seems designed to keep you in the dark.

Shopping With Your Eyes Wide Open isn’t just a slogan. It’s how we roll.
